Is there a way to upload files to my site without using an FTP application? |

You can use File Manager to upload files to your web site, up to 12 files in one go. Although useful, a third-party FTP client has many more features and generally does not limit you to the number of files you can upload at one time.
To upload files in File Manager:
Navigate to the folder where you want to upload your files.
Click on the Upload file(s) link.
Click on the Browse... button next to one of the top fields.
Search for and double-click on the first file to upload.
Repeat the above steps for each file you want to upload.
Click on the Overwrite existing files tick box if you want to overwrite existing files of the same name.
Click on the Upload button when you have finished selecting files. The status of the upload will appear in the top-right corner of your window. The contents of the folder is displayed in the main area, including your uploaded files.

Can I get hosting services that offer unlimited bandwidth, disk space and fees less expensive than Bookfella.com? If so how is it possible for other hosts to offer that? |

Well if you look around we are sure you can find hosts that offer bandwidth and disk space seemingly for less. The way that they can do that is very much like the way the airline industry oversells or overbooks flight seating. They count on a percentage of customers not showing up or changing their flight bookings. This as we all may have experienced sometimes backfires when too many of the bookings show up for the flight they paid for. Hosting companies do something similar. They count on the fact that most customers will not use very much disk space or bandwidth. Counting on that they can oversell their servers with more customers. The problem is that a given server may be oversold or utilized resulting in poor performance for you, the customer. Our strategy is to be upfront and only sell services for a prescribed amount of disk space and bandwidth. This way we can more readily predict the utilization of our servers and not over sell the capacity of our equipment. Our commitment is to serve our customers needs and derive our profit from that philosophy not at the expense of our customers service! Many of these hosting services at such small margins end up charging you for every single add-on or change you request. Although we do charge for some add-on's there are many features and additions that are included in our hosting services.

What does cPanel do? |

"The cPanel interface allows you to control, put together, and maintain a web site. The interface is split into different sections which contain the individual tasks involved with your site. For example, a task such as adding an email account will be found in the MAIL section. To access the different sections of cPanel, click on the name of the section or the graphic above the name. You will then be taken to another screen (or possibly another browser window) containing the tasks that can be accomplished in that section."

What are the basics behind the Content Manager application? |

The Content Manager application allows you to organize and easily manage your web site content. Content or articles within your web pages can be created or edited using the pre-installed Content Manager application. Content or articles can be entered and then a date to begin publishing or displaying the content on your site can be set. You may also designate an ending date to stop publishing the content. A text editor is employed so that you can edit your content by making text bold, italic, colored, change fonts and font sizes, insert images and much more. It is very much like using a word processing program on your computer, like for instance Word.

In the Content Manager administration what is the difference between Frontend and Backend user roles? |

Backend users can access the Content Manager Administration application. Frontend users are registered users that can login to your web site to make submissions or use and access other features of the site. Depending on the level of access that you give a user the following will apply:
There are two basic User Groups, one for access to the Frontend (so users can log in to the web site and view designated sections and pages as well as make submissions) and one for Backend Administration access. Backend access gives the user a greater degree of control and access to the site and its content.
The default groups provided are:
Public Frontend
| Registered
| Author
| Editor
| Publisher
Public Backend
| Manager
| Administrator
| Super Administrator
The Public Frontend and Public Backend groups are not used yet, but are included to allow for creating more granular access control rules in future versions.
Users in the Registered Group are able to login to the Frontend web site. Additional information (sections and pages) may be available to a user once logged in.
Users in the Author Group are given access to submit new content and edit their own content.
Users in the Editor Group are given access to submit and edit any content.
Users in the Publisher Group are given access to submit, edit and publish any content.
Content items, menu items, module and components can be assigned an access control parameter. At this stage there are only two available: Public and Registered. This means that anything assigned with Public access can be viewed or accessed by the anonymous web visitor. Anything assigned with Registered access can be view or accessed by anyone who has logged into the web site and is in either the Registered user group or one of it's children (for example, Author or Publisher). A future version will include the ability for additional special granularity.

How do I create a backup? |
| A: |
NEW! You can retrieve daily backups using this new feature. From your cPanel look for the R1 Soft Backups or the Backup Retrieval icons and click. Once open you will see a panel on the left that allows you to open each listing in the tree (click the small + sign) until you find the file or directory you wish to restore. Mark what you would like to restore with a checkmark and click the 'Restore Selected Files' button.
You can also generate a backup at any time using the following method. This is useful if you have just made some changes to the site and you do not want to have to wait for the routine backup (usually daily or weekly) before downloading the backup.
To generate a backup:
Click on the Backup button on the home page.
Click on the Generate/Download a Full Backup link.
Click on the location for the backup from the Backup Destination drop-down list. The following locations are available:
Home Directory - Saves the backup in the public_html level of your site.
Remote Ftp Server - Saves the backup on a specified remote FTP server.
Remote Ftp Server (passive mode transfer) - Saves the backup on a specified remote FTP server that will only accept passive (PASV) mode FTP transfer. Please refer to your hosting administrator or the remote FTP server if you have questions about passive mode transfer.
Enter your e-mail address in the Email Address field. An e-mail will be sent to this address when the backup has completed.
Enter the FTP address, user name, and password in the Remote Server, Remote User, and Remote Password fields if you are saving the backup file at a remote location.
Click on the Generate Backup button. An e-mail will be sent to the specified address when the backup has finished and can be downloaded.
