What is an Email Alias or Email Forwarding?
An Email Alias or Forwarding is an email address using your domain ( @your_domain.com ) that sends or 'forwards' emails to another designated address. In otherwords you create a Forwarding address (not an actual email account) and tell it to send email using that address to another pre-existing address. (e.g., sales@your_domain.com will go to my whatever@aol.com)

How do I configure my email application to send and receive emails from my domain?
You received information in your Startup Welcome email when you first signed up for services. You can receive a copy of that email by logging into our Online Customer Support system at: http://www.bookfella.com/customers/aLogIn.php
You will need to configure your Incoming Mail server or POP3 server and your Outgoing Mail server or SMTP server. For your Outgoing Mail server we recommend you use your ISP or Internet Connection Providers SMTP server configuration. The reason for this is that many ISP's are now blocking SMTP server communications other than their own in an attempt to diminish SPAM and Security Breaches. (In our opinion this is not a good solution but we have no power over these ISP's to persude them otherwise) NOTE: To use your domain for Outgoing SMTP email you need to refer to the Startup Welcome email you received when you first signed up for hosting. If you have trouble using your domain SMTP server then it is likely your ISP is blocking that protocol. Some ISP's will allow you to request to open the SMTP port (standard Port 25) for your account, otherwise you will be forced to use your ISP's SMTP server for outgoing mail.
These are most of the known ISP's that are currently blocking the SMTP protocol:

How do I forward existing emails to another email address?
You can setup forwarding from an address at your domain to another address at your domain or any other domain that has a working email address. Unfortunately you cannot forward existing emails in a mailbox to another address. Email is only forwarded as it is received. You would have to manually forward the existing emails to another address.

Why do some emails I receive have a paperclip in the subject when there is no attachment. It only happens with one sender.
It is probably because the sender is using AVG Anti Virus or a program like it. By Un-checking the configuration setting in AVG for Outgoing "certify mail" should solve the problem. Again it will depend on the application the sender is using that is causing the problem.

I receive an error "'reported error (0x8004210B) :'The operation timed out waiting for a response from the sending (SMTP) server" when sending email, what does it mean?
Error: Sending 'reported error (0x8004210B) :'The operation timed out waiting for a response from the sending (SMTP) server. If you continue to receive this message, contact your server administrator or Internet service provider (ISP).'
If you are receiving the error above it may mean that your ISP is blocking outgoing emails via third party SMTP servers. Here is a partial list of ISP's that are blocking third party SMTP:

***(cannot use their outgoing SMTP to relay domains other than their own)
****(limited blocking, sometimes they will enable customer as per customer's request)
*****(may reroute outbound SMTP back to their own SMTP server)
To resolve this problem you can change the port used for SMTP to 26 instead of 25. This can be change in the settings or configuration option of your email client application. Bookfella.com Hosting Services supports both ports 25 and 26 for SMTP.

Can I forward my existing email to my new email address or another email account?
Unfortunately you cannot automatically forward existing emails in your POP3 mailbox to another mailbox or email account. You can manually forward emails one at a time by sending them using the Forward option from your email applications and addressing them to your new account. Some applications will allow you to forward more than one email at a time.

What do I use for my SMTP server?
You can use "mail.yourdomain.com" or your ISP will have given you a server for sending SMTP email.

Why can't I send mail?
First, your domain name must be propagated. Then use "mail.yourdomain.com" for the SMTP server in your Email client configuration. We use SMTP Authentication. This means you MUST configure your email client to authenticate with your username and password, much like when you check mail.
